Open or closed motorcycle trailer?

When choosing a mechanism or system for transporting any type of motorcycle, a series of questions and doubts arise that we will address with practical and effective solutions. Concerns such as: What is the most professional option? How should I act according to regulations? Is an open or closed trailer better? Should I transport multiple motorcycles together or separately?
To solve the need for a service or trailer for motorcycle transportation, several solutions exist. The first is directly related to hiring a transport service or renting one. Alternatively, a van can be used for transporting the motorcycle, but it must comply with a series of restrictions and regulations (MOT, speed limit, vehicle setup, safety system, etc.).
Practical and Cost-Effective Solution
An alternative solution, and one of the most requested, is using trailers specifically prepared and designed to transport motorcycles from one place to another. This is especially useful for cross motorcycles that do not have a road registration plate according to current standards and regulations.
Currently, the market offers a wide range of very different models of these trailers. They include light or heavy trailers, with various prices and features, of higher or lower quality, with added technical features specific to each manufacturer...
It’s essential to highlight the main characteristics of these transport systems, particularly in terms of design, price, and features, aimed at all motorcyclists, both private and professional.
Closed Trailers
Among the viable options are closed motorcycle trailers. These trailers are compartmentalized and enclosed, allowing the motorcycle to be placed inside and remain fully protected against external shocks and impacts. They offer great security, come in various sizes (suitable for carrying other types of cargo), but represent a higher cost if your aim is to have a trailer solely for motorcycles. Additionally, being heavier, they offer more resistance and result in higher fuel consumption.
Open Trailers
The advantages of lightweight open motorcycle trailers provide these models with perfect reliability for all types of users. This is undoubtedly one of the simplest, easiest, most adaptable, and safest methods to use for these practices on the road. Open trailers tend to be more economical and are more standardized in use. Within this group, there is a clear distinction between trailers with a floor and trailers with individual rails for each motorcycle.
The latter offer the highest level of safety, as when the motorcycle wheels are fastened, they are completely secured and properly held in their respective rails, thus preventing any movement or vibration. Additionally, this type of trailer does not require a special license, and it doesn’t complicate road driving.
